Fair security for the price
A good length cable attached to the insert lock by a padlock. Not pretty but maybe visibility is a benefit when it comes to deterrence. Mildly concerned about the relatively flimsy link that attaches the cable to the padlock but I'm sure it'd be easier to crack the laptop casing to release the insert rather than break the link.If someone really wants the laptop, they'll take it, although that would also be true with a more expensive lock.

Belkin the BEST on the market!
-----------------------------------A really good and well thought out security lock - as you'd expect from Belkin (oneof the top makes in safety and security items for PC's and laptops).NOt sure why others said too close as was perfect on my laptop, can only think it maybe the indiviual laptop design, but this fitted well and slots in like any other item would into the usb slots etc.Comes with a good length cable abd study padlock. Also has lifetime guarantee! Galvaized-steel ...

Basic but good - no problems!
I bought one of these for evaluation and tried it on an Apple Powerbook, a Dell laptop, a Mac Mini and an LCD monitor - I had no problems. There's a rubber-coated metal connector that fits into the Kensington slot on the machine and the padlock attaches the cable to that connector. At no point is the padlock closer than one inch to the body of the machine and there's no strain, it's free to move. I don't see how "A electronics & photo fan" could have got damage to the case of a laptop from using...

A very poor lock
This lock is poorly designed. Its padlock is so close to the laptop that it puts a strain on the laptop casing causing damage. If you have a good laptop buy a better laock than this.

naff design
Got a beautiful new laptop, but this lock has already damaged it. The padlock design so close to the laptop puts too much strain on the housing. Its also very fiddly to use... if you have a nice laptop, splash out on a better probably more expensive lock. This lock might be better placed on a desk top where its ugly design can be hidden.

Did not fit
Lock did not fit the standard socket on my laptop, as the mechanism would not close far enough to insert the padlock.

The thinnest K lock
After trying various other K type locks which prevented the VGA connection being attached to my Asus EEE900, I find this lock which fits. The design doesn't feel particularly solid, but as a visual deterrent it does the job. If your K connector isn't tight against another socket I'd suggest a different lock.

not a good solution
It is difficult to put the lock with the laptop because the power cord is very close to the lock. Moreover, as the lock is heavy so it may create load on the laptop casing.

Simple and Effective Laptop Lock
Very simple to use and a visible defence for use in hotel rooms. I also use it in the boot of the car, attaching it to the rear seatbelt brackets.

A lock that locks
Does what it says on the tin basically - locks your device up securely. So thats a plus point.Bad marks for Belkin's product packaging though, one of those horrible plastic bubble boxes that you have to rip into with a swiss army knife to get anywhere. Awkward and over packaged, with a lost of junk to chuck away too. Also, thought initially that the keys wouldn't open the lock but after a bit of fiddling about, they worked. But overall, cheap and does the trick.
