Hi,unfortunatly mine was lost in the post somewhere(insert own joke here). But thanks to the speedy response by "you want GPS" my replacement is now on its way and I'm positive that this time it will find its way home. I'm sure that the Garmin will do exactly what it says on the Garmin tin, but for me it's the positive reaction by the staff at "you want GPS" that has made me smile..... and no I don't work there!!!!!

does what it does...
I chose this devise as I'd used the 301 while working abroad and wanted one for my own free time activities, a quick reference grid at a glance with out having to dig the device out from my burgan, which it does extremely well so a big tick in that box, but I new it would be good at that, as I'd said, Ive used the 301 before for that same reason.
I opted for the 401 for the magnetic compass and the altimeter as an extra for a few extra quid, why not, unfortunately, both are a little

Ideal for kayaking, as opposed to the requirement to frequently handle a hand held GPS. No issues with access to battery compartment.

Basic, reliable and efective
Purchased for lone fellrunning. Ideal backup for map reading, or when mist comes down and you need to find your route.
Requires quite a lot of work on your part to programme it less you use with memory map software and maps via USB lead.
Quite bulky on the wrist.
Ideal as a light weight minimalist solution for fell running.
