Great Little Machine
Just used this seriously for the first time. You will need a USB-serial connection cable. You have to buy off eBay in US. (Why doesn't Amazon sell them) Down loaded free version of Trackmaker into computer & scanned OS maps in. The old instructions off the Garmin website are great, forget the new set (they are useless). You can then mark off your waypoints (don't use too many) & join them for your route. Then load them into your Garmin. With a set of rechargeable NiH batteries you are off. But

Keep away from PentagonGPS
Had one of these for 11 years. It finally gave up the ghost last week ordered a new one through Amazon, who purchased it through PentagonGPS. Arrived today, I put battery's in, then NOTHING, just a blank back light.I thought I was getting a bargain at £66, but it just goes to show if you use companies like PentagaonGPS who Amazon endorese, you will get what you pay for. I suspect this box may have been opened at some stage, as it had no sticky tape over the lid flap.Unimpressed with

Spend a little more and get a much better experience
We were introduced to geocaching just before Christmas 2011 and had been using the excellent geocaching iPhone app but was frustrated by patchy mobile signal killing the app when we needed it so we bought this device to get round it.The product itself is ok and appears to be accurate to about 4 metres which is not as good as an iphone 4!! It is rugged in construction and very light but really basic.What really frustrated me was the appalling instructions and user experience. Thank
