Why spend money?
I have a Garmin Edge 705 which I love and was looking to put some decent maps on it for on and off-road use. Having finally found an interactive demo of the Topo map online I can't believe that Garmin are asking for money for this product. It is shocking. My advice is to search the web for free open source maps - they are out there and legit. I have one with much better map detail + contours and it cost me the price of a blank micro SD card to put it on - far better map quality than the Topo

Not perfect, but probably the best available, and definitely better than nothing. Works for me. Only annoying thing is that it doesn't show foothpaths very well. But I've used it for geocoaching and also just for navigating in a new city and it's been really helpful.

Play guess the footpath
Dont buy this if you are a serious trekker. Most public footpaths are not featured only the major ones. So you get a footpath with no obvious connections. Don't be fooled by the Ordnance Survey logo it is nothing like an ordnance survey map. On a route I planned the map missed a whole wood. So if your thinking of buying an expensive GPS and using this map on it don't bother. Save your money on the device and buy a memory-map instead. More expensive but 10 times better. Not the real OS Map detail, but...
.. adequate for most people's needs I would think. I bought with significant trepidation having read earlier reviews. Forking out this much money and having grief to get it to load is not my idea of fun. I was pleasantly suprised, then, when I put the dvd into my computer (running the dreaded Vista operating system). Yes, I needed to download the communications package, and yes I had already registered with Garmin, but I followed the instructions and it was loaded without any hassle. So well,

Problems unlocking
I had difficulty unlocking this product because Garmin didn't recognise my email address from the
hardware unit reg.n. The unit reg.n wasn't exactly easy; but that's another matter!
I contacted UK support who were extremely helpful. However, I couldn't believe the convuluted process I was led through. Yet another excellent hardware co. let down by a crude user interface.
I'm now having fun loading the maps onto the unit because 'transfer map data instructions' on page 5 of the
