Doesnt work with the standard SDHC cards sold right now, class 10
I ordered the Zx5 from amazon.co.uk and, having already read about the problems with class 10 cards, I ordered a class 6 Sandisk 16 GB HD card to go along with it. I made sure I got a class 6 card, in the product description on Amazon it said multiple times that the one I ordered was class 6. What does Amazon.co.uk however send me in the mail? Not for surfing!
I fail to see how this camera can live up to it's reputation, I took this out surfing attached to my wrist with a floating wriststrap.. after paddling for several waves and recording footage while riding I was impressed to see some good video on playback. However when I got home and plugged in the HDMI lead to my TV..nothing! I thought the battery was flat so after several hours on charge I tried again. I'm not a techy or photographer - I just wanted a camera to take video and stills when I'm sailing.This was easy and intuitive to use. Doesn't come with a SDHC memory card and so this is definetly required otherwise you are restricted to 5 stills or 5 seconds of video !There's no 'flash'. Beware of Class of SDHC Memory Cards you buy.
Fantastic Video Camera but does not work with Class 10 SDHC Memory Cards. After frustrating time on the Phone to Kodak they admitted that it does not work with Class 10 SDHC Cards. Firmware upgrade may resolve this issue later when its available. Their documentation states Class 4 or higher, in the enclosed documentation and on their website, as class 10 is higher than class 4 I assumed that it would be OK. But evidently not. Problems initially, but superb customer service from Kodak
Read the reviews and bought the ZX5. Opened the box, put the SD card in - oh dear - not compatible..It was the one recommended by amazon. Kodak say to get the highest qulity SD card - I did - SanDisc Class 10 16Gb card. Had to send back. This turned out to be a Class 10 upgrade - it was actually more than class 10, so Kodak were unaware of the new technology. They have already upgraded the operating firmware to take account of this. This is a great little pocket HD camera for the price. Keep it in your pocket for any ad hoc event, especially for videoing children or family events etc. You won't win prizes with it but it will preserve the memories. The still photos are also very good. Used this a few times now and the quality is great. The camera is easy to use be it video or camera. The playback on the video is very good. It's compact so you can take it anywhere. Used it on a sea fishing trip and the video picture quality I can not fault, so clear. I used to own a Kodak Zi8, which shot good video but felt horrible and plasticky. The PlaySport Zx5 has no such problem: it feels nice and solid, and it should do seeing as it's touted as being shockproof, waterproof and dustproof.
