Try before you buy
I bought this camera because I wanted a good quality SLR type camera for when a compact just isn't good enough. I have owned it for 3 weeks and after using it on holiday I'm disappointed for the following reasons.1. Surprisingly good
I was dubious about buying the Z990 because Kodak doesn't have a very impressive history when it comes to digital cameras, and because virtually every review I've seen has criticized the sensitivity of the buttons. Not quite what I'd hoped for
In the limited time I have had with this camera I have found the results good when viewed on the camera's screen but it has been anything but easyshare when trying to download to my iMac. All other cameras in the household including an earlier Kodak Z712 IS, have been and indeed still are instantly recognised. Satisfaction
The bundle could be improved by a hard copy of the "How To" operation of the camera, There is no substitute for the actual printed page in my opinion

Oh dear
Camera absolutely first class.Captures pictures other products cannot find.Photograph vapour trail of aircraft at 40000 feet. Enlarge resultantpicture taken at 30x and identify aircraft type!Alas battery charger no good - stopped working after a few minutes.Examined back of it through magnifing glass - it is rated for 120v mains,UK is 240 volt!!!!!!!!!!!Waiting replacement.

Very pleased
Very pleased with my purchase of the Z990, after having examined the one my friend has i went and bought my own.I found the menus very responsive, the Easyshare facility is very 'easy' to use (downloading my pictures to computer on my previous camera - a Fuji - became a long drawn out affair), battery life seems long for my everyday uses and very portable.The optical zoom is also pretty good for a camera of this price. i wasnt expecting much but it delivered some really great images...

Makes a lot of sense
There are lots of so-called 'bridge' cameras around. Making a choice can be difficult. This one makes it easy, so long as you place product before brand. This is a very competent camera with some of the features that serious amateurs like, without the price penalty. The only issue I have is the rather 'grainy' eye-level viewfinder; something that is not used much these days. The camera looks right, feels right and works right.

A very good bridge camera from Kodak
My wife and I both purchased one of these cameras this week, well ahead of a special wildlife holiday this summer. Ordered on Monday, they arrived on Wednesday, much to our surprise, as we had used the cheapest carriage method. Well done!
