Terrific kit, Slim, fast, very configureable
As with any of the new generation WiFi "All in One" devices it has lots of features, ADSL+2 modem, SPI firewall, 100mbps 4 port hub, router, DHCP server, VPN pass through, DMZ, WiFi 802.11b&g - WAP, 125mbps speed boost etc, probably too many for the average Joe. The basic setup is simple via web browser using the "common" GPL shared software code (GPL code is used on many Freeview boxes) so it may need the odd bounce here and there if your mains is prone to surges or spikes . The latest firmware...

Works well - build quality could be better
Set up was reasonably straightforward with a little help from Pipex and all in all this is a pretty decent router - does exactly what I says on the tin. ADSL 2+ compatibility is a bonus as my exchange is shortly to be unbundled to a 24mbps connection. Only minor criticism is that it doesn't appear to be quite a bombproof as my old Belkin and it runs rather hot.

Aaah!!!
Great out of the box in a mixed Mac and PC network wih OSX and XP home. But... it required a reboot after family members pushed the security button (no compatible adaptors on the computers, you see). From then on it has refused to assign IP addresses to either computer and thus won't allow internet access wirelessly. Very accessible and patient and thorough tech support but after 40 minutes I had to go. Firmware downloads included previous beta firmware versions, with no content: any ideas...

Good......when it works
Beware of this product. It is complictated to set up if using an apple Mac as you need to use an ethernet wire to access the router set up page, take down the router address and Snet mask details then back track and plug the details into network settings, then there is the time to coordinate the security settings with the wireless card on the computer blah blah blah - but I managed to get it working wirelessly after some serious head scratching......and its great when it works....BUT...

Very poor
The one I bought stopped working via wireless connections after 2 months. No real help from Linksys support. Thrown away as a faulty item. Not recommended.

DON'T buy it
Okay initially this seems like a really good router. It's 54bps not 108 but that's fine, it's built in modem supports upto a 25meg dsl connection and works great, the 4 port ethernet works fine too... except I had a nightmare with wireless, check the Linksys tech support forum, this router has major issues which can NOT be fixed, the WLAN to ethernet bridge always drops and the dhtp server will very often not lease IPs which means this router is effectively not wireless. I got a refund and have ...

A Big Mistake
I have been struggling on with this router for 5 months now. This month I have has to reboot (and hence setup from scratch again) at least a dozen times. When it works it works well, but it constantly stops transmitting the wireless signal. This I can normally live with as I have the house fairly well cabled so I just plug the cable in instead of using the wireless. What is worse approximatley twice a week the 4 wired ports stop working as well necessitating a reset.I am going to give Link...

Ring Tech. Support 0800 026 1418
I agree with a couple of the other reviewers of the Linksys WAG54GS-UK. Initially, it is not straight forward. Using the CD, after 5 minutes filling out the form it just says "Firmware upgrade failed". After an hour of messing about using Internet Explorer IP address 192.168.1.1, ten minutes of which was spent with an unbent paper-clip up it's back-side, resetting it, I got it to work. I then pressed the "EASY Security Set-up Button". Big Mistake!! Whole thing locked up and I was ready to smash ...

Almost threw it in the rubbish!
After spending 20 hours trying to get this product to connect to the internet I almost threw it in the bin. ALWAYS READ REVIEWS from other users BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING! SO MANY disgruntled customers bought this product I almost had a heart attack. The solution I found was to upgrade the firmware from the Linksys website to the latest version. V1.00.12 (Annex A) worked for me.The MOST IMPORTANT THING to know is that this router REQUIRES a password to be input, even though most UK internet p...
