Netgear NAS Storage unit

Painfully slow

I'm using the NAS to store itunes media files which on the whole it manages to play fairly well. Uploading everything was so slow (about 10MB/s) I'm on windows 7. The access time for the drive is also slow. Moving things within the drive is about 4MB/s which when you consider the speeds you are used to from pc to pc (100MB/s) is frustrating.My advice would be before buying any NAS search the internet for the brand and speed to see the differences you can expect. Netgear ReadyNAS NV+

Arrived to time scales promised. Plugged in four Samsung 1Gb HD103SJ hard drives. Used the Netgear X-Raid. Took a while to sync but no problems. Fitted 1Gb Ethernet 4 port hub to network to improve network access speeds. SyncToy struggles but FreeFileSync works well keeping file backups up to date. Generally Excellent

This is a strong sturdy unit. I added 4 x 2TB samsung drives and upgraded the RAM as suggested by the reviewers. It works very well and I use the remote access using the Ready NAS Application. The only issue is the remote access requires installation of the already NAS application on the remote machine which require administrator priviledges. Using Mac lion OS with this product

I needed back up storage to use with Time Machine, saw this product was Mac comparable and purchased, first of all could no see the device, finally sorted that out, and tried to set Time Machine settings in the Netgear Control Panel, but it gave a minus storage capacity figure, tried to see if there was any upgrades but could not get then to download using Safari.
