It's so good it's boring!
Netgear defines quality when it comes network switches(at a fair price).I've not come across another company that has set customer expectations as follows: "your network will be up and running in 10-15mins". From opening the package to connecting 5 network units took less than 7 mins and all worked fine first time. No noise, no fans, auto senses 100Mb and Gb network devices, gets a bit warm but nothing to worry about; could not be happier.Only negative is that it worked so well so ...

Netgear GS116/16
Bought this to replace a Linksys/Cisco Giga Switch which after being purchased new stopped working after two weeks and failed to be repaired by Linksys after 2 months. Urgent purchase of Netgear and it was shipped next day, plugged in and worked first time and hasn't stopped working since.

Simplicity itself
I run a small network of about a dozen machines that need to connect to the internet, a central server and a few printers. I'm not after cutting-edge speeds and performance, I just need to plug and go.With the GS116, that's exactly what you get. Plug it into the mains, plug the ethernet cables in and watch the lights go on, your network establish itself and you don't have to do anything else. (The ethernet cable to the internet router goes in one socket (I use socket 1 for this so I kno...

It does what it says on the tin!
When the Netgear 16Port Gigabit ethernet switch (GS116) arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The housing is metal and the unit is heavy enough not to be pulled off the shelf by the weight of the cables attached. All the ports, being at the front are easily accessable. It runs cool, almost cold, is silent as there is no fan and worked straight out of the box. As I have no test equipment, I can add nothing technical and I have to believe the specs. In any case but I am happy with it.

Pro level quality at a home user price
The Netgear GS116 16 port network switch is a superb piece of equipment. It works straight from the box with no configuring or setting up required. It is pleasingly sturdy with a good quality solid metal casing. The activity lights show 100 or 1000 Meg activity as appropriate to the equipment connected to the relevant port. The Gigabyte capability makes short work of transfering large files over the network - and, being hard wired, no snoopers can break into the network. The Netgear GS116 just w...

Solid performer
Straight out of the box, onto the shelf and working within two minutes. As usual a very solid piece of kit from Netgear. Much smaller than you realise but, heavier than anticipated so it does not move around with the stiff Cat6 cables. Well done to Netgear for including a lifetime warranty. Can be wall mounted with the small screw kit supplied.

Netgear GS116 16-Port Switch
There comes a time when the expansion of the home network just gets too big for the standard domestic 5 or 8 port switch. Enter the Netgear 16-port Gigabit switch. What can I say? It does what it is supposed too. It's very sturdy as the case is made from metal. The only thing different to 'normal' domestic switches is that the ports and flashing lights are on the same side. So if your cables, like mine, come up from behind the cupboard then you need to think how you arrange this if you wis...
