It Works With BT Home Hub
I bought this as a last resort trying get an ethernet switch that would work with the BT Home Hub without requiring a PhD in computer science. I've tried a couple of switches including a fairly expensive Linksys one to no avail. Tried setting the access and security settings and could see the various units enabled on the Home Hub setup page. Nothing seemed to work. And I don't think that I'm the only one with issues given the monumental pile of frustration built up on various forums regarding th...

Small, competent, robust and good value
Having bought two of these for a home system (instead of the 8 port version), the unit does what is says on the data sheet. Why buy? well, the purchase was on the basis of reliable use of these units for commerical purposes over many years. It is not the cheapest five port unit you can get, and it still needs to use an external power supply (internal would be better, but that costs more - see the 8-port version).Using its 1GBit LAN has allowed a home 1GBit NAS to be more of a pleasure...

Does what it says
OK, it's a switch (which means it's like a hub, but allows a mixture of 10MB, 100MB and 1GB connections without slowing anything down). It's small, neat, needs no configuration. I upgraded to a 1GB switch as I'm now using a network attached RAID system for storage of photographs. moving gigabytes of data around at 100MB gets tedious (and almost comatose over wireless LAN 802.11g), so the 1GB network upgrade was a must. As a result it's better performance than using a USB 2 drive.Co...

Great switch if you don't have Intel NICs
This is a great switch if you are using it with a compatible network interface card.I needed to use it with three high end Intel Gig cards (PRO/1000 GT) and the currently shipping v3 of this product is unable to connect any higher than 10Mbps with these cards.I know this is a good switch because I was temporarily able to use it with other Broadcom cards without any problems. However after I discovered this, I contacted Netgear, who did swap it out for me with one that was fully ...

Netgear 5-Port Gigabit Switch GS105
Although it works fine, I'm only awarding 3 stars for having been sent a different item from the one advertised. I thought I was getting the one illustrated with 5 ports to the right of the box and 5 numbered LED's to the left. This was not the case and what I received was a 5-port box. Some people might think I'm being a bit picky but I expect to get what I see. This was from a Market Place company called Real Trade. I have to say their despatch was very quick.C Hughes.

Works flawlessly
There's not much more I can say than has already been said about this product. It's a breeze to setup, simply plug it in, and away you go. To add something new, I'll add a little simpler explanation of what it does. This enables you to share one ethernet port among four other devices, whilst also allowing network connectivity between those devices. For example I have a single RJ45 CAT6 ethernet output from my main wireless router (a fabulous D-Link DIR655) to my study. Within my study I ha...

Tough as nails and Fast as f**k
I bought one of these switches in 2003/4 to speed up data between a work laptop and desktop (the work LAN was pants)After I left that job I integrated it into my home network so I have a fast link between fast devices and leave my (cheap 10/100) router to handle t'internet and slower devices. The things I really like about it:1) It's a metal casing so you know it can take a bit of knocking about. Super sturdy2) Fast. 1Gb LAN no problem all day every day3) Easily expandable (l...

Amazing does exactly what is says on the tin
Amazing speed over 60mb/s. Does exactly what it says on the box with no configuration of tedious setup. My old router took longer than this to setup.Highly reccomended
