Does what it says & a decent price too
I needed a 100mbps switch for our network to replace an old 10mbps. Decided to go for this Netgear 10/100/1000 Mbps switch as I was going to get a 1 Gbps NAS as well.Just take it out of the box, plug your cables in and away you go. The port lights light up green if a 1000 Mbps connection is detected and orange for 100 Mbps connections.Ended up buying another a week later as I was impressed with styling, performance and price.

Superb bit of kit
Plugged in, hooked up by any network cable going and voila, gigabit network. If you have proper gigabit external network harddrives then this is must. It's just a shame Netgear haven't yet made an all in one modem router and gigabit switch. Shame.

won't share internet connection
I bought this switch in an attempt to share an internet connection between 2 PC's and my xbox. After doing a bit of reading online and seeking advice in a high street computer store (PC WORLD) I was reassured that this would do the job. They were WRONG.This does indeed connect up all of the devices so they all see each other and share the data but what it does not do is allow all of the devices to use the internet at the same time, in fact it only allows one device access and will not allo...

Netgear Switch
I bought this switch based on the reviews posted to Amazon & genuinely thought this product would allow me to share both my PC & new Samsung TV simultaneously but it does not. The instructions in the box were no help, they just tell you how to connect it up. I sent a request to Netgear for help & they were useless, they just told me to contact my IP. The most helpful person was an IT assistant in John Lewis who said I'd bought the wrong product & should have purchased a router. Although I can us...

Incredible Performance & Value
A dinky little switch in the standard NetGear SoHo white 'Mac-style' design. It features 5 auto-sensing RJ45 ports on its back panel. The lights turn green for 1Gbps (full gigabit) connections, or orange for 10/100Mbps connections. I was happy to see that all my devices were greeted with green lights once connected. The lights flicker when there is network activity on a particular port. Each port also features auto-uplinking, so you can connect both routers and network cards to it directly witho...

Brilliant item
First off, this was alot cheaper than buying it in any of the shops, plus they were all sold out anyway.Secondly this is a fantastic bit of kit. I have a 'plug and play' modem, but with only one ethernet port, which was used for the computer. This router allowed me to have other ethernet ports instead of one. I recently bought an xbox 360 and this was what I needed to play live. There was no special set up required, it was literally 'plug and play'. The best thing is that ive played o...

Simplicity at its best
Printers, PCs and a WAP were beginning to outnumber the ports on my router, so I bought a Netgear GS605 to extend the network. It couldn't be easier to setup and install. It was a matter of taking everything out of the box and plugging in the power supply, the link to the router and the network cables to the devices. That's it - no setup disk or passwords, no IP or MAC Addresses to be entered - it does all the mapping itself. And like Jet Set Willy, I went and bought another a few days l...

Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch
Nice piece of kit. I bought this to compliment my Netgear 100mb wireless router. I can now transfer files between machines 10 times faster.Make sure you have a least Cat 5e cabling though.

Great solution to a network issue
I have a cable modem and wireless router downstairs in the lounge; the computers are upstairs in the study. There is also a wired link between the router and upstairs using 240V wired networking plugs (they are also 5-star).All was well whist the laptops used the wireless connection (fast) and the PC used the wired connection (faster). Then I needed to add a NAS device (Netgear NAS Duo). I had originally planned to locate this next to the cable modem, but the noise from the NAS Duo, alth...

Lets speed things up a little
I bought this much for the same reason one of the other reviews bought theirs "Jet Set". I was looking for a switch 100mbps to connect to a modem/router so that I would have a few more ports and not have to run cable from one end of the building to the other for each device being connceted. So I was kinda looking for a hub-like device but was advised to get a switch as it can manage traffic (or something like that) (can you tell I'm not that technically minded??)Anyway I decided to go for ...
