Amazing Switch; Amazing Value
Netgear have made an astonishing product here. I have never seen a better unmanaged desktop switch nor a cheaper one! It will automatically detect if you are using a straight-through cable and not a crossover to connect to another switch and the lights are pretty self-explanatory so there isn't really any need for a manual. Couldn't be better.

Great hardware, lousy manual
The hardware works perfectly straight out of the box, just hook up the cabling and off you go without any configuration at all.With such a simple product it is astonishing that Netgear failed producing any documentation at all supplied with the product or on their support site about what the colour of the LED indicators mean. Excellent - No Problems
I have one of these myself and they are excellent. Netgear's other consumer products aren't as robust, and are very basic for a great deal of money.I haven't had to reboot my 5 or 8 port netgear gigabit switches once.The transfer speeds are very good, but it depends on your cabling. Make sure you go with Cat 6, I have Cat5e Structured cabling in the house and whilst fast doesn't quite hit the true gigabit speeds of Cat 6. Netgear GS608 8 Port Gigabit Desktop Switch
Very pleased with this. Our old 10/100 switch just couldn't cope after we got a few Vista machines on the network. It took us ages to realise where the problem was but now we're back to a high speed world. Just plug it in and forget anout it!

Netgear GS608 8 Port Desktop Switch
I bought two of these to extend ports for my home office and home cinema system. The instructions were easily understood simple steps and it took just a few minutes to install each switch. No software involved (thank goodness)and clear indicator lights on the front of the switch showed each port connection coming online.
