I had bought this access point to extend the range of an existing Netgear wireless router. I had hoped it would pick up the wireless signal and provide hard-wired Ethernet sockets for a cluster to audio visual equipment. I have a cluster of equipment hard-wired near the router and another cluster somewhat distant. I wanted to use a wireless link to join these two clusters. It appears that I have got this arse about face as the extender is intended to be connected by wire and then distributes

I've had this installed on the second floor of our house for about 6 months as an access point. It works like a champ and has made my wife happy now that she can use her iPad upstairs! Priced right and does a great job.

This is the second of these that I've bought for my home. I've had the first one for around 4 years with no fuss or bother and pretty good coverage in a house with thick stone walls, so no hesitation in going for the same model again to extend coverage to another area (in standalone, not repeater mode). As expected, easy install and up and running quickly.

Netgear wireless bridge WG602
 
I bought this device to work as a network bridge and access point. It does both of these jobs but the set-up is not very intuitive and the wireless range is very poor. I also have a WGPS606 which works well all over the house, but the WG602 can struggle to work in the next room. I would not recommend this product as a bridge or access point unless the range required is only a few metres. It is certainly not effective as a range extender.
