Could have been amazing...but
Now i have had my trusty old Netgear D834G for a long time now and have never had any problems with it. The only reason i decided to upgrade to this is simply to take advantage of the wireless N and better coverage.We live in a 2 bedroom apartment, a block of 6 all in all. Wireless conection is fine in the first room with full bars but the 2nd room is down to 3 or 2 bars with the 823G modem. Also i use an Xbox360 with the Wireless dongle which supports N. A very good router
I believe the reason why there are so many ratings of 1 is because:a) they had some expectations that were not met, orb) they got a faulty model.A faulty model is probably actually rare, and a very small percentage of those sold, because otherwise you'd have more than 30 complaints (it's July/August 2011 now, and this was sold on Amazon from 2006, I think).However, I find that this was one of the best routers I have ever had. Superb
Great router. Very easy to set up. Excellent build quality with very stable signal... AND FAST !!! Well worth the money. After purchasing one for myself I bought another for a client and installed it in his office. He too is very pleased with the result. If you're looking for a really good router, this is the one.

Awful and unreliable
Besides the decent netgear web interface, this router is awful. Devices of all sort report weak signals right next to the router. It's constantly dropping signals and requires frequent reboots. Oddly, unplugging the unit doesn't work sometimes are it doesn't actually start once plugged back. It requires frequent attempts to get the unit to boot.iPhones don't not work well with this router either.This router is just awful

Look elsewhere! Not completely useless, but pretty awful
A pretty dire offering from Netgear. Setting to N speeds causes the network to disappear a few times a day, with the only solution being to reboot the router. This is incredibly annoying when you want to quickly jump on the internet, only to find that once again the network is not found. Seems to be stable when set to G mode only.Would have given an extra star for the admin options (as they're pretty comprehensive) but since you can't reliably run this router at N speeds, it can only be
