Excellent Wireless Broadband in 30mins

Worked for a week and then died
I bought the DG834GT to replace an ageing DG814 and 3Com Office WAP combo, which have both worked well. I was able to set up the new unit very quickly without the instructions and we were soon surfing at a good speed. However, after a week the PSU cube failed completely and in doing so managed to kill the ADSL modem part of the device. This was worrying as it was running off my stabilised UPS. Excellent!!!
Didn't even need to use the instructions to set it up. Very easy to use. It is great not tripping up over the wires. Until the 27th of March they are giving you a free Wireless Adapter or PC Card worth £45. I chose the wireless adapter as you can use that on both a pc and laptop by plugging it into a usb port. Only thing I would say is that if you don't have the newer usb port (v2 not v1.1) then you will only get 54mbps speeds, so I now need to buy a usb v2 card for my pc to get 108mbps speed. O...

Home wireless networking - at last
What an excellent piece of kit. I had tried with competitive items for about 12 months, with much difficulty and limited success. I would have had my 4 PC (2 ethernet + 2 wireless) network up and running in less than 10 minutes except for remnants of previous installations. Great looking, easy set-up, brilliant range!
I've recently installed a DG834GT for my father and have now purchased one of these myself. I've upgraded from my Linksys G Router as I wanted better range and better performance and was also getting a lot of trouble from my standalone ADSL Modem which sat in front of it. I have not been dissapointed the range on the DG834GT is superb, I can get over three times the distance than my old Linksys unit. Netgear Router Good Power Supply Poor
The router itself is very good but the cheap chinese built power supply failed after 78 days. Amazon were excellent in providing a replacement. Very easy to set up and configure. Auto configuration got ADSL and LAN working after less than 20 minutes from box delivery. Router software suspect as internal time could not be set at all until reconfigured from scratch. I got my girlfriend to buy me a DG834GT for Christmas after buying my mates Powerbook. Having previously connected to the internet via a USB modem I decided to go wireless.Out of the box the documentation isn't that great. Good product.... overall
I installed this for a friend and had some problems.Firstly I had to disable the Norton Security suite as I couldn't connect to the firewall's admin page.The 'auto detect' of the modem settings worked fine, however, the 'test' to see if the connection was working stated that it had failed - when actually it was working perfectly! After struggling for 1.5 hours I only found out that the test was 'duff' by phoning the ISP who said to ignore the fact that it stated it had failed to connect.

easy to set up but be aware of losing websites
I'm not sure why other reviewers complain that it was hard to set-up. If you aren't doing much more than creating a standard internet connection then this does the job, and it even autodetects most of your ISPs settings. I just cannot understand how people screw this up.But one tip; if you start to find that you are no longer able to connect to web sites without rebooting your machine even having quite happily surfed away for some time then I advise changing your DNS settings on the netgea...
