Very easy and simple to setup
I purchased this Netgear Router as I sometimes work from home, supporting a network out of hours and wanted to use my existing Telewest broadband connection to VPN in to the companies network. The router automatically detected the connection from the cable modem and my home PC was up and running in seconds, it then took me a matter of minutes to setup the wireless connection from my work laptop - I plumpted for the 128 bit WEP encryption and I also used the Access Control List for greater secur...

NETGEAR Are Turning Me Into A Wireless Geek!
Working from home is nice, but I used to be restricted to the living room because of the cable... which was 'interesting' when the kids were on school holidays!!!Now however, I am free! And becoming a serious Wireless Geek. First off I use the WGR614, plugged into my NTL Set top box. Set Up here was so simple I couldn't believe it... in fact I was connected wirelessly with out doing anything! However I have now gone back and added security, which was, in itself a piece of cake. RANGE IS G...

Simple To Use
Before getting this router I had no experience with either networking or wireless so something easy to setup was a must for me. I was not disappointed. The router has a webserver built in so the setup is done via a web page and after filling in a couple of dialog boxes and selecting some items from dropdown lists I was away. It really was that simple.Security was easy to do as well which is pretty important (it amazes me how many networks my laptop will find that are unprotected) though I'...

It is fantastic!
This really is one great bit of kit. I have a desktop, laptop and NTL broadband. The router allows 4 wired network connections so I didn't have to buy a wireless card for my desktop. Setup was Plug and Play and instantly gave me a home network and configurable firewall.I bought a Netgear Wireless 54G PCMCIA Adapter for my laptop and that was also very straight forward. I get 100% signal strength all over the house. If you're tempted then go for it.

compatability - ntl + medion pc + ibm t41
I am an ntl broadband user. My main pc is a medion p4 desktop which is now connected by cable thru the router. My laptop connects wirelessly.I am very impressed with the router as my connection speed on the desktop has increased since installation and the laptop connects perfectly every time from every room in the house and even the end of the garden - and this is despite having a communications antenna at the end of the street to give as much interference as possible!!It was very easy to ...

Wireless Network in no time
I bought this router 3 weeks ago so that I could use it with my new laptop. Since I was connected to Telewest brodband I searched on their website where it suggested this router. Since it was unavailable in the netgear website I tried it on amazon and was very happy that it was available for 10 pounds less. The package arrived ahead of schedule and within 15 min I was able to use the wireless features. The basic setup was surprisingly easy. I have connected my old PC to the router using direct c...

Does the job well, set-up can be fiddly
I bought this router to use with BT ADSL broadband and Netgear's DM602 ADSL modem/router. I'd read how this configuration (DM602/WGR614) could be tricky and that it would be necessary to define a gateway in the DMZ etc. However, the initial set-up couldn't have been easier.I'd been using the DM602 in router mode to connect "by wire" and I left it exactly the way it was. I changed the admin IP address of the WGR614 so that it didn't match the DM602, rebooted the WGR614 and then ran the wiza...

Occasionally loses wireless connection
Having bought this wireless router nearly two months ago, I am reasonably satisfied with it. However, it does frequently lose wireless connectivity for a few seconds, which usually is a nuisance more than a problem. It would also be nice to be able to switch-off the transceiver if just requiring the Ethernet cable connectivity, which it doesn't do. One piece of advice is to definitely make sure you set up secure encryption unless you want to share your wireless router with anyone near to or pa...

Terrible
I've had constant problems with this router, loss of connection, complete and utter non-responsiveness etc. All annoying intermittant faults that firmware updates haven't solved.Eventually I took it back and got a refund as it was so terrible - but the reason I'm writing this review is to say that I advise against buying the router for the following reason - if it goes wrong, netgear UK tech support are terrible. I phoned them, as instructed by netgear online support, to arrange for it to be ...

EASY TO SET-UP WIRELESS ROUTER
Well, I've had my WGR614 up and running for a couple of weeks now and it's a great piece of kit. It was incredibly easy to set up - being a networking newbie, I chose the wizard option to configure it, and basically it just told me I already had a valid Internet connection, so nothing else was needed (no firmware updates to download, no software to install, everything's done via the browser interface). I was up and surfing within ten minutes ! Oh, I did have to plug my two PCs into it and connec...
