Excellent despite the cost
I was in two minds as to whether to buy the viewfinder given the cost. However, we were going to Egypt and I was concerned at relying on an LCD screen in the bright sun (I'm used to using DSLRs, so prefer a viewfinder in any case). Panasonic DMW-LVF1E Viewfinder
If you use either the Panasonic GF1, GF2 or LX5 then this piece of kit is pretty much essential when out in the sun. It does help you to see just what you want to see, but the image is no way as good as a regular view through a proper viewfinder as you find on an SLR. I also believe this item is way over priced for what it is, and that Panasonic should have included one with the camera really.

Walking in the mountains
I recieved this unit in the post this morning & took it down to a lake near Killarney. If the unit had something to keep it tight on the lx5 & a small bit bigger screen it would be perfect. As it is, it is tidy & great for bright sunny days like today. I helps you focus in on the scenery you are shooting. Aside from the cost, I can see great possibilities for street photography. A great partner for anyone doing photography in the outdoors of in awkward places.

Excellent quality but for £160 it should be.
I have been fortunate enough to have borrowed this viewfinder for several months and can honestly say it provides crystal clear focussing on distant and closeup objects.You must ensure that you will use this viewfinder to justifie the expense.It is very rare indeed for the sunlight to be so obtrusive so as to block out all your composition and with the excellent battery power of the Lumix GF1 i have yet to find a subject i can not compose in the screen.Really Panasonic should h...

An Essential Accessory
I bought the Lumix GF1 and quickly found the screen impossible to see in bright sunlight. This electronic viewfinder solves the problem and has made taking pictures a joy. It also shows settings that are normally displayed on the large screen.Overall I think this product is an essential accessory although a bit expensive.

Lovely View
This is a beautiful piece of kit for a beautiful camera. No-one I've shown it to, has not been impressed. The viewer has its own little computer on it and truly expands the capabilities of the camera and shots that can be taken. I ordered it from a German company through Amazon market place at a fantastic price. It is everything I'd expect from Panasonic and the delivery and speed - and price - was everything I'd expect from Germany. I'm in love with the thing!

The part that was missing
Completes my Lumix-LX5 for perfect 100% framing in "old style", so that it feels now like my mini-"SLR".Perfect under the sun (when the LCD image becomes too dim) and also in very low light (when you can't see nothing with an optical viewfinder).Useful for framing above your head (over crowds, for better angle, etc) or for macros at floor level.Of course, would be better still with more resolution at less size and price...... :P

An excellent addition
The GF1 is not a cheap camera and its disappointing that it has no built in viewfinder.This solves the problem and definitely makes it easier to use the camera. In full daylight the LCD screen is not the easiest way to focus or compose a shot and as the viewfinder will tilt to vertical - I can now get those shots that are close to the ground - without actually lying down to do so.

Excellent piece of kit..
I'm using this LVF1E on a LX5 camera, and it is even more useful on this than the GF1. This is because LX5 users are less likely to want the eye level manual focus facility, and this is the only area where the LVF1E does not score maximum points, as the resolution is lower than the camera screen. Otherwise, this is a must have accessory as far as I am concerned. Expensive...yes, but it's beautifully made, (in Japan), gives a large, clear and bright eye level image, with full information, is easi...
