Avoid buying Philips
 
When I first received this unit it came up with an error when trying to configure a network address, this has not been resolved but if you ignore it the internet features do work. My unit started experiencing a video problem after about 1 month of owning it. I have now owned the unit for 10 months and I am still battling with Philips to get it repaired. The fault is intermittent but does occur reasonable often, the HDMI video output goes dead, the only way to get it back is to turn the unit

does not play all blu ray discs
 
i have owned this for a while now and though i am generally happy with the quality of the item, i am increasingly having issues with the player refusing to play certain discs. the discs are not faulty as they all play fine on other players - just fail to load on this phillips. i am currently saving up for a better model. sony probably.

Great entry level player
 
Got this for Christmas as a gift from my wife.It is as titled a great entry level player.The good. Loads Blu-ray's fastNice and quietThe user interface is pleasing and easy to navigate.The bad.Lack of ports. No optical out is a bit of a pain. The update system is can be confusing. It always says there is an update available even immediately after applying one. However for the price I don't think you can beat this. Good player backed by a good company

Grabbed one of these on the cheap to flash the FW (which is really easy, for someone not too techie), now have a bargain Region A Blu ray and all region Dvd player.

Region busting
 
I bought the player about 18 months ago and have been delighted with it. It is teamed with a Philips TV and Onkyo home cinema and the result is a pleasure to sit down to.Recently I was given access to some pre-release Hollywood films and found that the programming of the regions that I thought I had done based on advice here, had not worked. So here is the method that worked for me.Turn on the player. Make sure there is no disk in it.Go to Home.Move the cursor to "Settings".
