Basic, But Functional
DESIGN:It's extremely small and light, but certainly not the most stylish looking player, and the sharp edges mean it doesn't feel very comfortable to hold either. The buttons and (monochrome) screen are tiny, but useable.EASE OF USE:The menu system is logical, the play controls simple, and the pc connection / file transfer system very easy to use.FEATURES:It supports mp3 and wma audio files (not images or movies), and has a the usual assortment of playb...

Philips - Sense and Simplicity
Owning a lot of Philips products, I know that handling them isn't always easy. So I was very surprised when using this thing for the first time. I was looking for a simple MP3 player and knowing that Philips always delivered a certain amount of quality for your quid the choice was rather easy. I plugged the player to my computer and installed the software(this is only necessary if you want to do firmware upgrades). After I got rid of the preview music I loaded up some of my MP3s, started the thi...

GREAT!!!!!
The MP3 Player is great! The battery lasts really long and the tone quality is good. It is very easy to use and with 4GB an amazing number of songs can be saved on it

good for the price
i bought this as an emergency mp3 for when my main mp3 player lost battery and needed charging. this was a stop gap player and also used for listening to new albums - decide on my fave songs then transfer those to my main player meaning it didnt get clogged up with stuff i didnt want to listen to.so - good points- its small, cheap and has nice metal finish- easy and simple to use- has better sound quality than my main mp3 (a creative zen)- i hear much more subtle to...

Small, light and easy to use, but music sounds harsh
I am a technological laggard who bought this to replace an old-style MP3 player- the type you have to put CD's into. Which? magazine suggested this model. Amazingly, it weighs only a couple of ounces yet can hold hours of music, with an internal battery that charges via a USB cable connected to a computer, and can play music for over 20 hours on one charge. Transferring music to it from your computer is a sinch. You put a CD into the hard drive and upload it to Windows Media Player, and then dra...

DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE ON WINDOWS VISTA
Bought this for my 6 year old son with his Christmas money. He was really excited. Have had a Philips Go Gear before which broke after 3 months so was a bit apprehensive. Seemed very simple at first as I just sync my files from Windows Media Player, but when I came to play the songs it said Error Media Engine so I spent all day trying to then install the software to go the long way around. After several calls to Philips it turns out it is not compatible with Windows Vista which it does not s...

Dreadful - awful product .....
So, you have all your music nicely archived on your PC using software such as Windows Player - then you copy the files across to the MP3 player.Does the MP3 player recognise any of the album details (artisit, album name) - well it didn't for me.So you go back to the software and make sure that you've set all the details (artist, album name) and copy across again - still the same result. Finally you figure out that you have to open the MP3 player file structure ...

Phillips go gear mp3 player
Overall a very good product at a very reasonable price. If what you want is an easy peice of equipment to use put music onto and very small and versatile, this is it. I think the sound is easily good enough but maybe hi-fi buffs would differ

Rubbish
Didn't get this Philips gogear 4gb from Amazon but from Argos January this year, it worked perfectly for the 1st 3 months but then stopped working, took it back to Argos for a replacement, I must say I have had 6 replacements of this model and it hasn't been a year yet, this is the first time I have replaced a product so many times within its 1 year guarantee, its a total rubbish mp3 player and I would not purchase again, would stick to a Sony
