Long hours of research into LCD, Plasma and some LED televisions led to two highly recommended televisions. Samsung LE40C650 Freeview HD
After returning my Sony Bravia to another retailer, I purchased the Samsung LE40C650 from Amazon. It was the best price. The Tv looks pretty much like any other LCD. Setup was automatic. Excellent tv!!!
Purchased this tv the other day. Its amazing. Sharp picture, bold colours and excellent features. Even the sd picture is good! When attached to a blueray or hd games console you can really see what samsung has done to the qualitiy of the picture. The sound is fab and the tv itself is amazing to look at. Its black and shiney with curves in all the right places! Deffonatly a must buy. And in currys this retails at £999 but amazon you can get this tv for about £725!! which is a great buy!

A solid all round set, with little missing.
I have had this tv over 2 months now, so feel happy I can leave a fair review. I should be honest from the start and state that this was my second choice of TV, after the Panasonic plasma G20. Once I had sent back my second set to Amazon due to an unbearable high pitch buzzing noise coming from the rear right of the set I decided to look into the LCD market for what would hopefully be a similar picture, without the drawbacks of the G20. After purchasing this tv for my mother i proceeded to set it up for internet access, which is sold as one of the main features of this set. After attempting to set it up for approx three hours and searching online for help via some forums ,i realized that most people have a problem connecting to the internet. Good and Bad !
I'll be brief ! Excellent picture quality, no problem there. Sound is average from the built in speakers as with any TV.The manual is awful - I would describe it as a glossary rather than a manual. Be prepared to spend much time exploring the menu's yourself ! If you don't understand your HDMI's, Digital optical etc etc I would steer clear. Impossible to set up the internet - Samsung's Customer Service is VERY POOR
Since I bought the TV I have been trying to use the Internet through the TV. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, a very simple wired connection is not working and the customer support is very poor. Regretable purchase.

Network & Internet problems
Good TV but...The network and Internet access is unreliable because...The wired network port (Ethernet) only works in full duplex 100/100 mode. BT Home Hub 2.0 (type B) only works on auto negotiate that the TVs Ethernet port has a problem with.This is a fundamental problem for a product that is marketed as an "Internet TV"The only solution is to connect it to a device that supports 100/100 full duplex or buy the Samsung wireless adapter (WIS09ABGN) at ~80gbp.The Ethern...

LE40C650 - almost internet TV!
After the usual good price and FAB service from AMAZON, (ORDERED SUNDAY EVENING, DELIVERED TUESDAY 10:00), I got the TV up and running in no time. Freeview HD seems good on BBC and ITV and I also get S4C HD as I can see Wenvoe.Internet (LAN) set up OK but - quelle surprise - no iPlayer! Big disappointment as this was a main factor in buying now and considering Samsung.More setting up tomorrow and I will update this review re picture etc.
