Brilliant camera, superb picture quality & great value for money
As with the previous reviews, it is a great camera.. Try reading the manual - put in NiMH batteries
I recently bought a near cousin of this as a happy snapper camera (the S850) while in Germany. The only difference is the number of pixels which is 8MP rather than 10MP. They appear to be otherwise identical.There are normal batteries in the box but the manual says that you can and should use NiMH rechargables, which I did and a pair last for hundreds of shots. Disappointed
Can't complain about the excellent 10mp picture quality or the 5x optical zoom, but this camera takes 2 regular AA batteries and believe it or not the batteries run dead after taking a few shots. Not practical at all. If anything it leaves the camera useless.

Samsung S1050 - You decide?
Lovely camera - except it eats batteries. Lovely big screen to view your picures and fairly easy to use. After reading the reviews on this site I did purchase the re-chargeable batteries recommended - slightly better use but it still only takes 15 / 20 pictures before failing! However, I have contacted Samsung as it may be an issue with this particular one! I'll keep you posted !

The batteries supplied last barely a few minutes. Make sure you have some decent ones ready - otherwise you will have a brilliant camera, but be unable to play with it! How do I start? This camera is brilliant. First of all the screen is massive! A lot bigger than you think wich makes it perfect for viewing photographs and like other reviews have said, 'it drains the batteries'. this is true but don't let this stop you from buying this camera because you can buy 2650 mAh batteries for about ?10 that last a long time. Samsung S1050 is value for money
The supplied batteries died within a couple of photos - and this immediately got me worried, so i hopped on the net and found a lot of others complaining of the same problem... on the advice, i went out and invested in some high energy LITHIUM batteries (i chose energizers) and the problem was resolved... so basically you just need to get the correct batteries.I now have some rechargeable 2500 NiMH energizers winging their way to me in the post and i have every confidence that these ...

Amazing Camera
** Amazing Camera *** ...... I own this camera, yes the batteries it came with do run dead quick but I think they are just supplied for you to see the camera works rather than to use with the camera long term, but trust me .... just buy 2000maH or better still NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) 2500mAh AA rechargeable batteries (the higher the maH on a battery the more power they hold) - which saves you money anyway as you just recharge them and don't have to keep buying batteries and you can get them ...

battery life rubbish!!!
The camera itself is ok. the pictures and film were excellent when we used in the first week. We soon realised that we ended up having to buy new batteries (as the re chargable ones that came with it were not good at all) almost every few days. Even with duracell batteries it only lasted about 10 minutes if that!! so don't waste your money, The battery life of this camera is almost non existent, it is now in the rubbish bin after only 3 months!

Has some down falls.
I've had this camera for nearly a week and I think it's fantastic. the picture quality is amazing and it's very easy to use. However, it must be said that the camera runs down the 2x AA batteries that it takes very quickly even with long life batteries. I can take only 4 pictures then the batteries run out.
