Bought this as a main data storage to complement an SSD with Windows and other slow loading applications on. The hard drive is exactly what is says it is, no nonsense 7200rpm 1TB internal SATA HDD. This was my first build from scratch, and I'm pleased to report it went well and was very easy to configure and format this drive, and after recieving delivery it took no more than 20 minutes to install and be fully up and running. Good luck to anyone ordering the same product, and hope it is as easy

SATA 3 HDD - quick, quiet and huge storage!
 
This is the secondary HDD in my latest build. The primary drive is a 500GB Barracuda. The 1 TB version is just as quick and quiet as its smaller brother (or sister, if you prefer) but has room for music and photo's for evermore. I have used Barracudas in the past and they have been reliable, so I've great hopes for this one.

It works
 
Fitted it as another backup drive in a NAS - as luck would have it, it was the same model drive that came with the NAS. Works a treat.

Virtually silent.
 
But relatively huge compared to my measly original. Havent done the tests, but it registers properly and works as quietly as the others. Can't complain one jot.Oh, BTW, to format it, go to 'Start - control panel - system - advanced settings - performance......'It'll be there to fiddle with and format after the driver has auto loaded.

don't buy HDD's from amazon
 
the 1 star rating for this is unfair. it's just there to get your attention:as far as i know this drive is good. i've used seagate barracuda's before and in the past i've always found them to be highly reliable and fast. the 1 star is for the way it was packed. it was packed like a standard book. who does that? puts a hard drive in a tight thin cardboard shell and expects it to be ok. well it wasn't ok. i tried to get the drive to work but it wouldnt format. so i used SeaTool, which is
