The FreeAgent 1TB Hard Disc drive range has a poor reputation the hard drives start to fail well within the one year warranty if I am asked I would recommend not to purchase this item based on past experience.

3TB FreeAgent® GoFlex(tm) Desk External Hard Drive
 
I bought 2 of the 3TB FreeAgent® GoFlex(tm) Desk External Hard Drive drives as i need alot of storage *i did not buy from amazon just to make that clear, however i must warm people here about these drives, as i said i bought two of them but 6 months later and both are now broken, neither can be accessed or repaired (even if i get a replacement i`ll be selling them). there is no power switch to start off so unless you manually unplug them they`re on all the time....the cradle they sit in is

Very slow - or is it faulty?
 
I have a seagate 2TB drive and a seagate 500GB drive already so I thought this would be a good choice for backing up all my images as the 2TB is full already! I'm on a dual 2.3 PPC (pre-intel) Mac so I had to initialise it for Mac first.Compared to my other seagate drives this one is SERIOUSLY SLOW. I'm having to wait for over one minute for it to respond to opening some folders and generally at least 30+ secs for most folders. Folders that I have opened once already seem to respond

Godd Hard Drive
 
I bought this HD unit to replace my 2tb HD, it works perfectly.The only small issue (which is very small and doesn't affect the performance of the HD in any way), is that the gauge that's meant to measure how full the drive is, just doesn't work.It lights up, but that's about it.Very impressive HD from Seagate.

Good start, shame it had to end this way
 
AS someone else said, probably a good drive if you don't want to do anything advanced with it. For Plug in and go it is ok -ON ONE CONDITION though, which is not mentioned anywhere AFAICS on the box, nor in the instructions ( such as they are) nor on the HD itself; and that is: THIS DRIVE MUST BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER; NOT THROUGH A USB HUB(according to Seagate customer services we are supposed to know this - it's obvious apparently)If it is not connected
