Great Value Compact External Drive
The Seagate GoFlex Desktop Drive is a neatly designed, compact external drive, at an extremely competitive price for 2TB capacity.. just what I required for backing up important data and it takes up very little desktop space.. Very good product, could be great..
The seagate goflex 2 TB is a quality piece of kit and I would have no reservations in recommending it. My only gripe about the whole thing is that it tries , like a lot of other products, to commit you to it's own system of working. in this case Memeo software,all but the most basic of which are subscription based, which may be wonderful in it's own right but is just not necessary. Drive fine, software rubbish
I bought this drive because I expected it firstly to be reliable (so far it is) and secondly because I liked the idea of an automatic complete drive backup (total disaster). I loaded the software, kicked off the backup; then it got part way and hung. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to complete - failure one. GoFlex Home unresponsive
I've been running my GoFlex Home 2TB for about 7 months. Initially, it would appear to become unresponsive / inaccessible on a daily basis, requiring a shutdown (via the power switch) to bring it back. Superb Ext. Hard Drive
Ordered this one because it was recommended in my computer magazine and my old Iomega was becoming very sluggish. It is a real gem. It is a nice neat little drive and 100% silent, I don't have to worry about switching it on and of as it does it in sync with the computer. As a professional. videographer I use it mainly for storing wedding videos and found it faultless.There is also a good backup software that comes with it but as the files I use run into 10's of gig I haven't used it.

bad software design
I recently purchased this model. It does the job of storing data perfectly well. However, turning off my computer at night results in the drive turning itself back on and running through the night. Obviously this will cause early failure and increased power costs. It is definitely a design issue as Seagate's own forums have many people complaining about the same problem.
