Great TV
This is a great TV, have had it since Nov 2008 (33 months ago) and no problems at all, looking at other reviews and websites where many people have had problems I can only guess that there was a bad batch or batches at that time, fortunately I have a 5 Year guarantee so fingers crossed all will be ok.Back to the TVVery pleased with this TV, it lives up to Sony's usual quality, the picture quality is superb, for gamers the game option on the setting brings down the response time so

Failure after 28 months
I bought this TV in November 2008 and like many people's comments was very pleased with the quality of the product. Unfortunately in just over 2 years of use it has now developed flickering and lines running vertically all over the screen. After spending close to £900 to purchase the TV I would have expected it to last far longer than it has, certainly after I had used a CRT before for several years without any problems. Media Board Fault
In common with many other purchasers of this product, the set developed a well documented picture fault after about 2 years. If it were a car it would have been recalled and rectified. There are numerous threads on chat rooms and other forums about this fault which Sony are well aware of. When working its a great set with amazing picture quality. Be assured that the chances of it failing are very high. Make sure you buy the extended warranty and read the small print.Alternatively buy another

Sony Replacing Failed Televisions
Like many others I purchased the KDL-40W4500 based on the excellent reviews back in November 2008, and for 2 years it was perfect, but also like many others the screen started to fail after 2 years. I did not take out a extended warranty.Sony have now acknowledged that they have manufacturing faults on a number of their models from 2008, and are offering free rapair/replacement. Screen Failure after 18 months
This TV had a fantastic picture for 18 months, but then started to suffer from the screen fault as detailed by other users. I purchased from Amazon in December 2008 and the screen started to show the usual symptoms in July 2010, I don't have extended warranty but I expect a TV costing £1000 to last longer than 2 years. I'm now in the process of assessing the cost of repair or replacement but I'm hoping Sony will do the decent thing and hold their hands up on this one and offer to pay, or maybe
