Tom Tom Ok!
I had lots of reservations when purchasing this product after reading all the reviews on this site about dodgy cradles and the like, but after using the 510 for the last 6 months now I can say its brilliant! I would not go anywhere new without it now. I did not have any problems with the unit at all other than what everyone has with the maps being occasionally out of date (same with any GPS). So I will be first in the que when the updated maps come out and will certainly be sticking with Tom Tom...

Poor Docking Station
Having bought and enjoyed the 510 I became concerned that the lock on the docking station had become so loose that the power into the unit was intermittant. In due course the unit started shutting down because of the problem. I received a new docking station which solved the problem for a while. sadly in time exactly the same happened and I have now returned the 510 and gone back to the 500 which I had for years without a problem.

Little gem, flawed by baffling design faults
this item is potentially superb. I agree, it is let down by a very poor power connector on the windscreen mount - when you think it has been charging because you haven't been able to make out the green LED in sunlight, suddenly the batteries are low because it is not seated properly. Poor Manufacturing Inspection
My new TomTom 510 arrived from Amazon last week. At once delighted with the unit - reception, response, screen clarity and ease of use. However this 510 cannot have been function tested before despatch from TomTom because at once it failed to charge in the car dock. A fine product spoiled by slack post-manufacturing inspection and test.

Docking mount on 510 and 910 sub-standard
I agree with previous reviewers. The new Tom Tom Go GPS units are fantastic... but the windscreen mount doesn't connect the power properly. I have just returned my second unit for a refund unfortunatly as it doesn't reliably charge when on the vehicle mount.Other than this rather major problem the unit is excellent. good one, little faults that nag
Unlike the other reviewers, I did not have a problem with charging unit on the windscreen mount but did have the problem with the home cradle. I returned the first unit when it refused to pick up GPS signals anywhere in the country! The second unit has been used for a week and so far no problems. I would overall reccomend this product as it works much better than the Navman 530 I tried earlier.

Don't buy it until they fix the fault!
Screen mount apart, this is a good Sat Nav system. However as other reviewers have detailed, the screen mount has an inherent design fault that means that the power supply disconnects repeatedly. I contacted Tom Tom direct, and they offered to collect and repair the unit (which was less than a week old)but would give no commitment that the fault would not occur again (in fact they refused to enter into a dialogue about it), so I returned it for a refund to Amazon (good service) and I'll buy an...

Poor docking and crippled bluetooth support
I've been using the 510 for two weeks now and despite two major problems the thing works well. The poor docking has already been mentioned by other reviewers so I'll discuss the phone support.Bluetooth support for many phones has been (deliberately?) removed on the new 510. Modern bluetooth phones from major manufacturers, like my Nokia N70 for example, no longer work. This is a phone that worked fine with the previous TomTom GO 500 model. Some good, some bad....
Had my Tomtom 510 for a few months now. Bad bits are: Windscreen bracket has all the fault listed by other people - bad connection (so battery is flat but you don't notice until it's too late and you can't always stop to fiddle with the connection). Bluetooth connection leaves my phone (Nokia 6310i) on very low volume no matter what I do so I have to use a separate car kit if I'm to hear anything.Good bits: Absolutely everything else! There's nothing wrong with the Tom Tom 510
I wanted to write a review to sort out a few issues raised by others which may put you off buying one. I have had NO problems with this item at all. It doesnt freeze and there's certainly no issue at all with the windscreen holder. The charger falling out is due to having it badly placed, I suggest people try putting it lower down so it rests on top of the dashboard as recommended.
