The best incarnation yet.
I've been using TomTom navigation software on a PDA with a bluetooth GPS unit for many years, and have always found the software intuitive to use and reasonably accurate. Now that my PDA is dying, after some research I replaced it with a 710. The screen is clear, and the software is just as easy to use as in previous versions. The windscreen mount is very firm and locks the unit in place whilst driving; it bounces a bit on rough road surfaces, but so far hasn't fallen off or disconne...

Works for me
Yes it does get stuff wrong from time to time, and yes sometimes it takes ages to get a connection, my advice would be turn it off take out and put back the memory and switch it on again. Charge it while your driving and you don't have to worry about charging at home (which seems a bit daft anyway since you only really use it in the car). All in all i would say it is a top product , i have done 3000 miles up and down the country going to out of the way places recently and it's been 95% useful, w...

It's not a perfect world
I did a lot of online research before buying this product and despite reading plenty of negative comments and reports of issues I am happy with the Tomtom GO 710. Here are the headlines :Mounting bracket - this is rock solid and hasn't shown any of the symptoms of drooping that I have read about. Maybe I have a more recent unit with a tighter bracket, or maybe there are a lot of buyers out there that haven't fully locked the suction mounting. So far I can't fault it.Scree...

Great gadget
The problem with the device switching itself off when going over bumps etc can be solved simply by downloading an update (which is straight forward to do once connected to tomtom home). I have yet to experience any problems with this. The device itself is great, and will truly impress you with its capabilities. For any driver who travels a lot to new places or for the less confident driver in getting around, this truly is a great investment as getting lost with this device is impossib...

Teleatlas Maps not a match for Navteq Maps
I recently "upgraded" from a Garmin i3 (running Navteq Maps) to a Tomtom Go 710. This was a carefully chosen product based on the fact that I would be driving in Norway. I selected tbe Tomtom Go 710 as they claimed to have the most complete maps of Europe installed including 99% coverage of Norway. Many of the locations I am visiting are not mapped on the Teleatlas product! However, it turns out that the corresponding Navteq maps DO have these locations! In the UK I have only been using the Tomt...

Core functionality superb, speed camera and traffic information variable
Everybody I talked to recommended the TomTom's navigation, tracking of satellites, clarity of screen and ease of use. I agree with them. It's superb at what it does. This model -- the 710 -- also acts as an extremely good hands free-mobile phone system for Bluetooth phones. With its (provided) external microphone, the quality is better than my old, fully fitted, Nokia hands-free kit, and, seriously, this unit is not a great deal more expensive than having a new hands-free ...

VERY POOR QUALITY AND EVEN POORER CUSTOMER SERVICES
BEWARE IF YOU GET A FAULT ON THIS PRODUCTMy mum bought one of these six months ago, and it has never worked properly (beyond the first quick journey to test how it worked). Over the next six months it was going bacwards and forwards to Tom Tom for "repair". I say "repair", because everytime it came back it still had the same fault that it was sent off to have fixed. Customer services then started promising her that "this repair will be the last, and that if it isn't fixed this time it will...

Frustrated from Woodbridge
I bought a 510 GO in March and at the beginning of May it was stolen. I bought another only to find the maps were more out of date than my original. I swapped it for a 710 as it was thought that this was more up to date (difficult to tell when in a sealed box). Sadly this was not the case. There are roads marked "unnamed road" that were correctly named on the previous device, and there are some roads that have been in existence for 3 or 4 years that it doesn't recognise at all.Tomtom custo...

Buy a map
I had a Tomtom500 for over a year and was very happy with it. Bought the 710 because we're off to Ireland this summer. Worked right out the box (like it says), navigated us to our cottage in the Cotswolds (like it says) .... then broke. The on-off button refused to play ball. And a blank screen is a fat lot of use. Just as well we'd taken OS maps with us.Amazon reckon a replacement will be with me tomorrow (which is excellent since I only reported the defect yesterday). But wil...

My replacement gave up after a week
Out the box and into the car it worked immediately. Plugged into my desktop for the updates and after updating, following all instructions the screen went blank but stayed illuminated. It was impossible to turn it off or turn it on. I sent it back to Amazon who very promptly replaced it with another. This worked as the first but this time at the second attempt to download updates after a week of use it died in exactly the same way. Never again.
