Great device - if a little geeky
As a 25,000 miles a year driver, sat nav is essential. Previously had a built in sat nav in the car, but my new car didnt have the option so I had to buy a stand alone unit. Amazing
I have had a road angel 7000 for years which was ideal for me as a business traveller - lots of miles and want to know where the cameras are ! however the maps werent great and the functionality wasnt the best. This is my second Tom Tom, and I must say at the outset that I cannot do without it now. The new Tom Tom 940 Live is a very good product, with enough added value from my previous Go 300 to be worth buying. A really excellent piece of kit. IQ routes are great. However the TomTom Live Services did not work from the start even though I called TomTom tech support before I tried to connect, as I heard there could be problems. Don't buy one yet
Bought the 940 two weeks ago and it has been nothing but trouble. Speed camera alerts are not working properly and Traffic does not work at all. TomTom support answer is that no fix available yet and they will let me know if one is available ... but not when! They should fix bugs first then sell the units not the other way around. Mine is going back for a refund and I shall revert to using my 910.

I'm not really able to recommend this product, or even the company. I got a 940 in December 08 and I wouldn't buy it again. Firstly, I am not completely happy with the device. For all the hype about accurate mapping and IQ routes, I have found them to be inaccurate. Tom Tom appear to have huge probles with these devices. Along (apparenrtly) with many other units, the live services do not work at all. The unit constantly brings up an error message that imforms you that it is unable to connect to the server due to being inn a foreign country (which it isn't). This product is simply a con and reeks of a penny pinching rush job from TomTom. The services are patchy and costly (£96 a year)and the mount included is a blatant rip off - whilst the new design is nice, this mount DOES NOT allow you to control your Ipod nor contains a line out socket (to get these functions you'll have to pay extra of an additional mount which is poor considered the amount you've shelled out already).I would have given this negative 5 stars if I could. ...
