I bought this Tomtom on their reputation and the specification met my needs. It does everything it says it should very well. Poor service from Tom Tom
If you purchase a Tom Tom and have no issues, they are a fantastic product. However, if anything goes wrong and you have to deal with their customer service, things turn into a nightmare. My Tom Tom went wrong when activating the blue tooth, so my advice is to stick to the basics of just letting the thing get you from A to B. Great purchase, easy to set up,easy to use. Two small critiscisms: 1. The power connection to the unit is fiddly, especially if you've got big fingers! Snug and secure once fitted though. 2. The supplied suction pad connector which adheres to the windscreen will not stick to any dimpled dash surfaces, so if you have a deep upper dashboard the unit may be too far away. Needs careful positioning on dashboard
I nearly sent this back because the GPS took so long to lock-in (sometimes 20 or 30 minutes!), then I discovered that satellite fixes could be obtained faster (within 30 seconds!) when the unit is placed much nearer the windscreen in the centre of the dashboard, with the top edge angled towards the glass, so that the receiver has the best possible 'view' of the sky. We bought this device to road trip around Europe and put it through it's first trip last weekend.The device seems easier to use than the TomTom Classic and I like the changes that they have made to the interface.
