This drive is Super quiet!
I've tested many hard drives over th years, and very few are this quiet. I have literally stressed this drive BEYOND it's limits and it has not made a sound. I used it in my project audio system, and it integrates well into a non PC environment just as good as in a PC. The hard drive also works well sat next to 2 x 12" Subs, vibrating like hell and the speakers are NOT magneticaslly shielded. The drive works very well! I have no complaints whatsoever regarding this drive. It is very quiet, performs well and I have been able to use it for a demanding role.

Slower, old technology
The drive I received is WD20EARX-00AZ6B0 manufactured in Sep 2011.It is officially the replacement for the WD20EARS. However the drive I received is significantly slower than my existing WD20EARS. Average read speed is 84MB/s according to HD Tune, compared to 106MB/s on my WD20EARS. 22MB/s, big difference!I was also shocked to discover that it has 4x500GB platters. Good, fast, cool and quiet
I am using this as a backup and store for large video files, so it is either working or idle. It is very fast compered to moving files between partitions on one disc, and infinitely quicker than defragmenting, just copy a 500MEG partition contents over, delete the old files, and copy back if necessary. After 30 min continuous use it was warm to touch, not hot.

Not impressed!
Just sent back the drive that replaced the first one which was showing too many bad sectors to format. The second one was exactly the same. Much time wasting contacting WD tech support (4 days to respond), writing zeros, running full tests and full formats to no avail. Two in a row is probably just unlucky but it left me with no confidence in WD drives and I have asked for a full refund. Having the same problem with the second drive lead me to believe it was probably something I was doing wrong....

Fast, great drive for system back up
great quality, packaging was excellent and delivered fast (Dublin Ireland). Drive is a green powered and is perfect for back ups for my iMac- which is what this is used for. Fast with FW800 but would not use this as a scratch disk as it does not perform speeds I need to run Audio Applications. But for back is perfect.Recommend!

Model number and misleading interface details
It is a pity that the model number is not listed. There are several WD 2TB drives and each is best suited to different purposes.The title says 6Gbps (= Sata 3) but the detailed description says Serial ATA-300 (= SATA 2). Which is correct ?????

It works
Quite happy with this. Worked straight away after installing and does what it's supposed to. Is very quiet as well. Can't really ask for more than that.
