Excellent.
As I've come to expect from WD, these drives are excellent, I have two 2TB ones (this new model) and two 1TB ones (the old 'elements' model that was longer with the rubber edges on back and front).Was a big fan of the older model of 'elements' drives, and so was concerned they had tried to profitize and so made a cheaper more tacky 'elements' model. Anyway, its not the case, solid as a rock, reliable, quiet, quality feel, and looks better too. Buy them now!

WD Elements 1tb external disc drive
I gave this product a low rating as it did not work - DOA. I do, however, rate the Customer Service highly. On the weekend there was a voice message but on the weekday there was a person (Eric in my case) who was extremely helpful.I have never had to return a product before and was a bit worried about the procedure. I would like to say how simple and easy it was with Amazon.

Value for money
I needed a 1TB usb backup drive fast. The WD Express came in timely fashion, and for a 1TB external drive, lets face it, it's cheap. Packing was OK, but could be better, 'nough said. Out of the box, correct UK power adaptor, the HDD itself, USB cable, and a few bits of crappy paper (quick-start guide, maybe?)There was supposed to have been either a CD or soft-copy of the manufacturers documents, there were neither. Neat little drive
I brought 2 of these recently to increase my storage as I have a load of ripped dvd's, HD and music content. My previous drive was a Samsung story 1.5tb external drive which I'd filled.These drive came pre formatted for windows(can't remember if they were FAT32 or NTFS). Either way I'm using a Mac so had to format them before use. Quiet, cool and unobtrusive
I bought this hard disk primarily for use with Apple Time Machine from two Mac laptops - a Macbook and a Macbook Pro. The drive comes formatted for Windows but a reformat only took a few seconds. Great drive !
I Have 3 of the previous model and they have not been a problem once - So I picked up one of these new version's and it worked out the box and so far it's been 100% reliable and I'm very happy with it. If you're after some cheap extra storage then I would recommend this Drive - 1TB is more than enough for 90% of everyday users

I ordered this item a couple of days ago on free delivery and it came very quickly. On reading previous reviews about having the wrong type of plug i was a bit sceptical about purchasing this hard drive but after contacting Amazon I decided to buy it and i'm glad i did. Great no nonsense drives
After using the My Book series for a number of years, WD decided to force their own back up software onto my computers. After searching hi and low for a replacement to the My Book series, I settled on these cheaper drives to back up my back ups!No crappy, buggy software means they worked perfectly with decent transfer rate over usb2 so I'd definitely recommend!
