Works fine but don't use the install disk with Windows 7

Once I got this 1TB shared network drive working it was very effective. I used it over my home network and I can share libraries and photos easily. Now here is the important bit. Like just about every customer I plugged in the Mybook and inserted the CDRom for installation. The result was 'Not discovered' and no hunting around the built in trouble shooter could identify why. Nor did WDs website. This is very common and I came upon a solution just before I packed the whole thing back in its box

Works but writes are EXTREMELY SLOW over wifi

I have 2009 Macbook Pro with a 1TB Harddrive, Linksys E3000 router and very high performance wifi throughout my house with minimal interference. I have been around the block trying to work out why I cannot get this drive to back up at more than about 8MB/s MAX using timemachine. There are tonnes of threads about the performance of this drive... Im sure its firmware related. Its taken about 75 hours so far to do 200gig.Beware.

Unreliable

Unfortunately I 've had a bad experince of this product. Had one for 4 weks, did a firmware upgrade and it locked up. Lost my data which luckily I still had a back up as I was still transferring it to this new Nas drive. WD were very good at sending a replacemnet, no questions asked. New one lasted 5 months and died again. Offered a new replacement but said I wanted refund as it had now become unreliable. Told they don't offer refunds !!!!!!! As this was to be my cloud. Great NAS Box

Bought this box to run backups to from a server, to replace a combination of eSATA and USB drives used on our main server.This box has a nice interface with extra mediaserver options that I won't use for my implementations. It looks pretty slick and has a massive amount of storage. It's in a noisy rack but I did run it outside of the rack for a short while and it was very quiet.a 2GB eSATA drive was nearly £50 more and I was experiencing issues where a dodgy drive was hanging

Bought this 2TB model as was going to buy a 1TB from Amazon, but a local well know PC warehouse was doing it for the same price, but just before we went there I happened to pop to our local Costco and they were doing a 2TB model for £128... Bonus!It's being used on a PC with Windows XP I thought "here we go problems....." and well there was a few, I had to switch off the drive, so used the shut procedure and when restarted the drive had vanished so had to go through the set-up procure
